Patient & Employee Safety RN

Job Responsibilities:

The InterMed Patient & Employee Safety RN position is a collaborative role working with the Safety Administrator to provide a safe work environment for staff and patients. A person in the role would be responsible for the following:

Conduct new employee safety training and onboarding, specifically:

  • Oversee new and existing employee immunization program
  • Perform safety tours at all InterMed sites for new employees
  • Present safety education at orientation

Provide safety support to InterMed leadership and employees to reduce the risk of injury.

Patient and Employee Health and safety monitoring.

  • Influenza surveillance
  • Coordinates employee influenza vaccine program

Collaborates with the Safety Administrator on oversight of:

  • Fire safety
  • Chemical safety
  • Workplace violence
  • Environmental safety
  • Infection control
  • CPR Program
  • Hand hygiene program
  • Safety audits, reports and action plans

Actively participates on the Safety Committee, including supporting the Safety Officers  


Job Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare safety is preferred
  • Willingness to learn and an interest in continued safety education, including but not limited to OSHA Certification, American Heart BLS instructor training, and ergonomic evaluation training.
  • RN/LPN with active and unencumbered Maine license preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication skills:  listening, oral and written 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of employees 
  • Able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and plan work independently
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

40 hours a week; Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
