Clinical Assistant, RN - Women's Health

Location:Marginal Way
Schedule:Full Time 32-40 hrs/wk

Job Responsibilities:

The clinical assistant is responsible for managing the day to day patient flow through the office, assisting the provider with procedures/diagnostics, and serving as the direct liaison for the patients’ needs.


  • Assessment of provider schedules and organize patient flow
  • Assist providers with patient care:
  • Rooming patients
  • Assess patients’ general condition and take vital signs and weight
  • Collect specimens (as directed by provider)
  • Perform screenings per provider guidelines
  • Assist providers with procedures
  • Give injections and immunizations as directed by provider
  • Schedule outside procedures and tests (i.e. stress tests, colonoscopies, etc.)
  • Document all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, hospital data in the medical record
  • Maintains structured data registries and Meaningful Use information
  • Provide patient education materials, communicate providers’ advice and instructions
  • Prepare, stock and clean exam room(s), maintain supplies and equipment for treatment
  • Coordinate patient needs by documenting and prioritizing phone calls
  • Fulfill clerical responsibilities which may include:
  • Obtaining lab/x-ray reports
  • Hospital notes
  • Referral information
  • Completing forms/requisitions as needed
  • Provide back-up support for other clinical staff as necessary
  • Special projects as assigned by lead, coordinator or manager

Job Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of RN, LPN or MA program
  • Active unencumbered Maine license
  • Excellent professional judgment, phone skills and decision making ability
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Flexibility and willingness to work as a team member
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors

Other Job Information (if applicable):
36 Hours a week
Rotating day off, either a Tuesday or Wednesday depending on provider schedule
Monday: 7:30-5:00
Tuesday:  7:30-5:00 or OFF
Wednesday:  7:30-5:00 or OFF
Thursday:  9:30-7:00
Friday:  7:30-5:00
