Clinical Implementation Specialist

Job Responsibilities:
The Clinical Implementation Specialist works under the general direction of the operations team along with key stakeholders to identify, develop, implement and monitor the sustainability of clinical processes and workflows, in alignment with InterMed’s strategic plan.  This position directly interacts with a diverse range of clinical and administrative professionals, including primary care and specialty providers, chronic disease specialists, and clinical and operational teams at all practice sites.


  • Collaborates with the operations project manager to plan full scope of clinical programs and/or initiatives including: processes and workflows to ensure operational feasibility, project plans with milestones and deliverables.
  • Researches and synthesizes current clinical guidelines and best practice published by various academies and accrediting agencies into educational sheets for providers and clinical staff. Evaluates and updates current workflows and existing training/education materials to ensure they align with any changes in clinical guidelines
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and practice managers to project manage operational plans to develop and deliver clinical training education and implement workflows and processes from design to sustainability to ensure systems-based approaches to new clinical initiatives
  • Prepares the materials for and facilitates meetings with key stakeholders including physicians, NPPAs, practice managers, coordinators, clinical assistants, analysts, etc. to gain consensus on clinical decisions required to move projects forward
  • Works with the Operations Project Manager and practice managers to ensure all workflows, processes, and education materials flow through the appropriate approval processes before implementation
  • Collaborates with the Business Intelligence department to identify measures and build systems to collect and report data to determine the effectiveness and sustainability of new initiatives
  • Monitors an operations dashboard regularly to ensure the sustainability of the initiatives.Initiates the development of plans and project teams to respond to identified improvement areas.
  • Develops and updates clinical programs and initiatives as directed by the Board of Directors, Committees, Contracting team, or practice teams
  • Partners with the clinical training team to support the development of and dissemination of clinical education and necessary training for staff on processes, workflows, and protocols within all departments
  • Takes on additional responsibilities and activities as directed

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and clinical background
  • Unencumbered active registered nurse licensure in state of Maine
  • Knowledge of clinical office workflow processes, healthcare delivery systems and healthcare trends
  • Experience with process improvement tools and techniques
  • Established track record of leading successful process improvement initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to relate to all disciplines
  • Proven ability to independently manage projects and problem solve barriers to success
  • Experience in interdisciplinary team function
  • Ability to function independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to manage conflict, stress and multiple simultaneous work demands in an effective, professional manner
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing, and spreadsheet manipulation.  Experience with EHRs preferred

Full time, 40 hour per week position. Monday through Friday 8:00-5:00.
