Job Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of the onsite Registered Nurse (RN) at IDEXX is to assess, prioritize, and execute high quality nursing care and interventions, facilitating the health and wellness of patients on site. The onsite RN must have exceptional customer service and communication skills, along with strong clinical judgment and decision making skills. The onsite RN should have good working knowledge of acute and ambulatory care settings to anticipate needs, and facilitate care of patients navigating these medical environments. The onsite RN acts as a clinical leader promoting professional excellence, teamwork, and collaboration in the delivery of exceptional patient care.     

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Provides general nursing care in accordance with nursing standards
  • Provides initial history taking and assessment of injuries and illnesses (occupational and non-occupational), refers to on-site nurse practitioner/physician assistant, physician, or medical director for further evaluation as necessary
  • Utilizes nursing protocols as appropriate
  • Prioritizes, organizes, and plans work independently
  • Responds to medical emergencies and effectively delivers care
  • Provides nurse care management of non-occupational injuries and illnesses including facilitating specialty referrals, communicating with the medical team, identifying opportunities to enhance health, and closing gaps in care
  • In cases of occupational injuries and illnesses the onsite RN will collaborate with onsite management and the Workers’ Compensation Case Manager coordinating treatment and continuity of care at the direction of the managing medical provider
  • Provides education and advocacy including providing research and community resources
  • Supports onsite wellness and health promotion initiatives, as well as the employers’ culture and business goals
  • Promotes patient engagement in wellness through health coaching, and identifies areas of high impact interventions which yield positive health outcomes and wellness
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and takes measures to ensure the privacy of patients while providing medical care onsite
  • Delivers care in a manner that preserves the patient’s autonomy, dignity, rights, values and beliefs
  • Oversight of clinical environment with attention to safety and infection control
  • Monitors and maintains clinic schedule and patient flow based on changing clinical needs
  • Recognizes the importance of the patient, family, and/or caregiver to patient centered care
  • Demonstrates a respectful and positive attitude, and maintains strong working relationships with all health care team members, patients, co workers, and business partners
  • Fosters an enhanced team environment
  • Participates in training and is in compliance with all policies, procedures and safety requirements of InterMed and on site staff  

Job Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of RN program, BSN preferred
  • Active unencumbered Maine license
  • BLS required
  • Hands on, direct patient care experience required
  • Phlebotomy experience required
  • Splinting experience preferred
  • Caring and compassionate demeanor
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and professionalism
  • Excellent nursing assessment and decision making skills
  • Efficient, timely, and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record in adherence with InterMed policies and procedures, and with on site policies and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks without sacrificing care quality or customer service
  • Must successfully be fitted for a N95 mask
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred; Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word, and strong phone skills

32-40 hours a week. Clinic is open Monday-Friday 7:30-4
